The
National Black Leadership
Roundtable (NBLR) has come up with a very innovative
process by which, members of organizations such as the PFA
will be able to send you the names and addresses of five (5)
people who live in your neighborhood who are eligible to vote
but are not yet registered to vote. All that will be asked
of you is to contact those neighbors, assist them in getting
registered, and offer to take them to the polls with you when
you vote in 2008.
Nearly
one-third of African-Americans who are eligible to vote
are not registered to vote! Presently, that’s a total
of five (5) million of our people. Our hard-won Voting Rights
of 1965 was re-authorized in August of 2006. The National
Voter Registration Act (NVRA), enacted in 1993, is meant
to enhance voting opportunities for all Americans by making
it easier to register to vote and maintain their registration.
The NVRA applies to 44 states and the District of Columbia.
